VKJ-BK6040E Backscatter and Dual-Energy X-Ray Inspection System

The VKJ-BK6040E pairs dual-energy transmission with backscatter detection on a linear-array multi-energy detector. The two views can be shown together or separately, so an operator sees dense contents and low-density organic material in the same scan rather than choosing between them. The 615 x 454 mm tunnel is sized for parcels, bags and hand-carried items.

VKJ-BK6040E backscatter and dual-energy X-ray inspection system

Key benefits

  • Transmission and backscatter views shown together or independently
  • Linear-array multi-energy detector captures both signals
  • Reveals low-density and organic material transmission alone may miss
  • Colour-coded classification by effective atomic number
  • Low 0.5 kVA power consumption

Problems it solves

  • Conventional transmission-only scanners miss low-density items
  • Operators cannot distinguish organic from inorganic in a grey image
  • Separate systems for each imaging mode double cost and floor space
  • High power draw is impractical in a commercial building

Who it is for

  • Mail room and parcel screening operations
  • Venues screening hand-carried items at entry
  • Sites where organic threats are the specific concern

Application scenarios

  • Logistics hubs and distribution centres
  • Warehouses and storage facilities
  • Hotels, hospitality and exhibition venues
  • Parcel screening and incoming mail rooms

Technical features

  • Dual-mode operation with simultaneous or independent views
  • 40 AWG wire resolution and 32 AWG penetration resolution
  • Image search, retrieval and playback
  • Image enhancement tools with zoom and annotation

Figures are those published by the factory for this model. Where a value is shown as TBC it is not published, and we will confirm it with the factory before you order rather than estimate it.

Compared with other models in the range

The BK7555 is the same dual-imaging idea scaled to a 755 x 555 mm tunnel for oversized baggage. The BK6040E is the compact version at 615 x 454 mm and 0.5 kVA, which is what makes it practical inside a hotel, office or mail room.

Use guide

  • Confirm items fit the 615 x 454 mm tunnel opening
  • Set tube voltage to 140 kV for general parcels or 160 kV for denser items
  • Display both modes together when organic content is the concern
  • Use colour classification to triage material categories quickly
  • Search the archive by stored record when an item must be re-examined

VKJ-BK6040E Backscatter and Dual-Energy X-Ray Inspection System FAQ

What does backscatter add over dual-energy alone

It reveals low-density and organic materials that transmission imaging may miss, giving a more complete picture in one scan.

Can both views be seen at once

Yes, transmission and backscatter can be displayed simultaneously or independently.

What is the steel penetration

30 mm at 140 kV and 38 mm at 160 kV.

How much power does it consume

0.5 kVA.

What size items does it take

The tunnel is 615 x 454 mm, sized for parcels, bags and hand-carried items.

How many images are archived

100,000 or more, with search, retrieval and playback.
