Applications

Cable For Fire Detection And Alarm Systems

Circuits that have to be identifiable, stable and documented.

The Situation

What Makes This Application Different

A fire system is inspected, certified and then maintained by people who were not there when it was installed. Everything about the cable has to make their job obvious rather than archaeological.

Specification Decisions

What To Decide Before The Cable Is Ordered

Identification

The red jacket is not decoration. It is how an inspector, an electrician and a future contractor tell a life safety circuit from general wiring.

Loop resistance

Solid copper conductor keeps loop resistance inside the panel's acceptance window across the length of a detection circuit.

Screening

Unshielded is normal for a clean containment route. Specify shielded where the loop runs parallel to power cable or through a plant room.

Core count

Allow spare cores. A zone that gets extended after handover is the normal case, not the exception.

Certification

Wstlab CE certification covering 2-core to 22-core fire alarm cable at AC60/750 V, 50/60 Hz, issued with the order.

Questions

Fire Detection & Alarm Systems — Questions

What core counts are held for fire alarm cable?

2, 4 and 6 core, shielded and unshielded, on 305 m wooden reels.

Does the cable meet a specific fire resistance standard?

The range carries Wstlab CE certification as described above. If your project requires a specific circuit-integrity standard, send the standard reference with the enquiry so we can confirm before you specify.

Not sure which specification fits fire detection & alarm systems?

Send the run lengths, environment and device loading for your fire detection & alarm systems project. We will name the stocked specification that fits before you order rather than after.
