LDH fire hose is a large diameter supply line that moves large volumes of water at a fraction of the friction loss of conventional smaller diameter hose. In practice it works like an above-ground water main laid into an apparatus pumping operation. It is nitrile rubber over high tenacity synthetic yarn in 4, 5 and 6 inch, yellow, in 15 m (50 ft) and 30 m (100 ft) lengths.
