Silage Wrap Film

Silage Bale Wrap Film

TSPLAS silage wrap film is a UV resistant bale wrap film supplied at 20 inch by 6000 feet and 30 inch by 5000 feet in 1 mil, in white, green or black. It seals a forage bale airtight on any standard wrapping machine so fermentation runs without oxygen.

Overview

What This Product Is Built To Do

Baled silage only works if the bale stays airtight from the wrapper to the feed face. TSPLAS silage wrap film is made for that single job: it clings layer to layer to hold an airtight seal around the bale, resists the punctures that come from stubble and handling, and carries UV resistance so an outdoor stack does not break down before the feed is used. It runs on any standard wrapping machine, in the two width and length combinations most wrappers are set up for, with other sizes produced to order.

Key Benefits

  • Airtight seal creates the anaerobic condition fermentation needs
  • UV resistant so bales can be stored outdoors rather than under cover
  • Puncture and tear resistant through stacking and transport
  • Runs on any standard bale wrapper with no machine change
  • White, green and black so bales can be sorted by cut or field

Problems It Solves

  • Air ingress restarting aerobic spoilage and costing feed value
  • Punctures during handling turning sealed bales into mouldy ones
  • UV breakdown shortening how long a stack can be held
  • Film that will not cling, so the wrapper lays layers that do not seal

Who It Is For

  • Dairy and beef farms making baled silage
  • Contract wrapping operators
  • Forage merchants moving wrapped bales
  • Farm supply importers in high rainfall regions

Application Scenarios

  • Baled silage and haylage on dairy and beef units
  • Contract wrapping across several farms in one weather window
  • Outdoor bale stacks held through winter
  • Forage traded between farms and merchants

Comparison

How It Compares With The Alternatives

Silage bagsWrap film suits farms that already bale and want feed in transportable units. Bags suit a single yard holding a large tonnage in one continuous store.
Bunker silo with a sheet coverWrapped bales need no civil works and let a farm feed out one bale at a time, which limits the face exposed to air.
Bale net wrapNet wrap contains the bale shape, film seals it airtight. On a silage bale the net goes on in the chamber and the film goes on at the wrapper.
Use Guide

Getting The Specification You Paid For

  • Wrap as soon as possible after baling so fermentation starts under film
  • Set the wrapper for the overlap your film width calls for and keep it consistent
  • Stack on a level, free draining and stubble free site
  • Inspect the stack regularly and patch any damage the same day
  • Keep unused rolls in their cartons and out of sunlight until use
FAQ

Silage Wrap Film Questions

What sizes do you stock?

The common sizes are 20 inch by 6000 feet by 1 mil and 30 inch by 5000 feet by 1 mil, and any other size is produced to order.

Do I need a particular brand of wrapper?

No. The film is designed to be applied using any standard wrapping machine.

Which colour should I choose?

White, green and black are stock. Many farms use colour simply to separate cuts or fields in the stack.

How long can film be stored before use?

Keep rolls in their cartons, out of direct sunlight and off a damp floor, and they will carry between seasons.

What are your payment terms and lead time?

30 percent down payment with the balance before shipment, and production within 20 days depending on the production plan.
