Cotton wrap film can be stored in a warehouse for at least two years. That is a useful number, because it means rolls bought late in a season are not written off. It assumes the roll stays in its original packaging, indoors, off a damp floor and out of direct sunlight. Heat and UV are what consume shelf life, not time on its own.

Outdoor Service Life Is A Different Number

Once film is doing its job outdoors it is on a shorter clock. Cotton wrap holds at least six months of outdoor exposure on a module. Plan module and bale movement inside that window rather than assuming the film will wait indefinitely, because UV exposure accumulates whether or not anything looks wrong yet.

Keep Packaging On Until The Machine Is Ready

Net wrap ships in a weatherproof bag sealed at both ends precisely so it can live in a farm shed or a dealer store. Opening rolls early to check them, then leaving them open, undoes that. Open the bag at the machine, not at the delivery.

Every sealed product fails the same way: a puncture lets air in. Choose a dry, cool and shaded site that is level and free of stubble, keep machinery movement away from stacks, and inspect regularly so damage is patched the day it appears rather than found at feed out.

Handle Rolls By The Core

A dropped roll with a crushed edge will run badly for its whole length. Lift by the core, support the full width when loading onto a wrap arm or a chamber, and do not stand rolls on an uneven floor. None of this is complicated, and all of it shows up in how the film performs on the machine.
