Product Overview

What This Machine Does

This machine electrolytically strips silver and tin from the surface of plated hardware and electronic waste.

The same cell can then electrolytically deposit the stripped metal, so stripping and recovery happen together.

Waste silver acts as the anode and stainless steel as the cathode, with the work loaded into hanging baskets.

Key Benefits

What You Get

  • Plated silver and tin are taken off the substrate and recovered in the same operation.
  • Basket loading means whole batches of parts go in at once.
  • The substrate hardware is left available for its own recycling route.
  • The stripped electrolyte is filtered, precipitated or electrolysed to give silver slag.
Who It Is For

Who Buys It

  • Electronic waste processors handling silver plated contacts and connectors
  • Hardware recyclers with silver and tin plated components
  • Refiners taking in plated scrap from multiple sources
  • Operations that currently smelt plated scrap and lose the coating
Problems It Solves

What It Fixes

  • Silver and tin plating on scrap hardware is thin, valuable and easy to lose in a furnace.
  • Chemical stripping baths need constant replenishment and produce a loaded solution that still has to be treated.
  • Handling plated parts one at a time is too slow for a real scrap flow.
  • The stripped metal often ends up in solution with no route back to bar.

Comparison

How It Compares With The Alternatives

Comparison
Smelting plated scrap directlyCoating metal is diluted into the melt and is hard to recover cleanly
Chemical stripping onlyProduces a loaded solution that still needs a separate recovery step
This machineStrips and recovers in one cell, with baskets for batch loading and a 316 stainless cathode
Use Guide

Running The Machine

  1. Step

Load the silver or tin plated parts into the four hanging baskets, which take an effective loading height of 700mm.

  2. Step

Prepare the electrolyte with silver stripping powder.

  3. Step

Lower the baskets into the cell using the 0.5 ton linear crane and cargo hooks; the crane is supplied by the buyer.

  4. Step

Run electrolysis from the three-phase 380V 50Hz rectifier so the plating dissolves into the electrolyte.

  5. Step

Move the stripped parts to the washing tank.

  6. Step

Filter, precipitate or electrolyse the loaded electrolyte to obtain the silver slag.

FAQ

Questions About The Silver And Tin Electrolysis Stripping And Deplating Machine

What can this machine strip?

Silver and tin plated on the surface of hardware and electronic waste.

Does it also recover the metal?

Yes. The same machine can electrolytically deposit the stripped silver and tin at the same time, and the electrolyte is filtered, precipitated or electrolysed to give silver slag.

How much can be loaded at once?

Four baskets of 200 x 650 x 800 mm with an effective loading height of 700mm.

What power supply is needed?

A three-phase 380V 50Hz rectifier.

Is a crane included?

No. A 0.5 ton linear crane is required and is provided by the buyer. Cargo hooks are supplied with the machine.

Can the cell be built to a different size?

Yes, the cell size can be customised to your requirement.
