4. Accept that tone will be close and pattern will not. That is what quarried material means.

Colour temperature is not optional here

Specify 3000K. Cool light through travertine produces a grey, flat, slightly dirty appearance that destroys the reason for choosing stone. This is the one category in the catalogue where the colour temperature decision is effectively made for you by the material.

Weight and fixing

Stone is dense, and a pendant that looks the size of a coffee cup weighs considerably more than a glass one. Check the published size in millimetres on the product page and confirm the fixing detail with us before installing into plasterboard or a suspended ceiling. This is a conversation to have before the order, not on the day of installation.

Where stone is the wrong answer

• Anywhere the client expects every piece to be identical, because they will not be
• High-vibration locations, since stone is strong in compression and unforgiving of impact
• Projects with no tolerance for a longer lead time, as selection for a matched set takes time
• Cool-light schemes, for the reasons above
