The Date Moves Every Year

Ramadan shifts about eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so the production window moves with it. Working back from the start date through sea freight and 20 to 30 days of custom production after sample approval is the only reliable way to plan it. Build the schedule before choosing the designs.

Get The Lettering Proofed Twice

Arabic calligraphy is where orders go wrong. Letterforms get distorted when a factory redraws artwork it cannot read. Send vector artwork, get it proofed back on the frame drawing, and then check it again on the photographed sample. Never approve lettering from a written description or a low-resolution render.

Crescents, mosque domes, minarets, fanous lanterns, calligraphy panels and Ramadan Kareem and Eid Mubarak greeting scripts are already in production as standard shapes. Resizing or recolouring an existing design is much faster and lower risk than commissioning a new one, and it leaves budget for the few hero pieces that genuinely need to be bespoke.

Coherence Across A District

A district looks designed when one motif family appears at two or three sizes, and looks accidental when twelve different designs appear once each. Produce the whole programme as a single batch at a fixed bulb spacing so brightness and colour match from street to street.

Specify For Gulf Conditions

Summer heat and coastal humidity are the real test. Wiring rated to 60 C, IP65 sealing, and stoving varnished frames with rust prevention are the specifications that matter. Ask for the temperature range in writing.

Plan For Next Year At The Same Time

Programmes are extended, not replaced. Ask the factory to seal and retain the approved sample so a repeat order two years later is matched against a physical object rather than a description of one.
