Under Vehicle Inspection Mirrors and Cameras

Undercarriage inspection tools from a 260 g pocket mirror to a recording infrared camera on wheels.

Under Vehicle Inspection Mirrors and Cameras

What this category solves

  • Bending under a vehicle repeatedly causes fatigue and injury
  • Mirror-only inspection records nothing for later review
  • Dark undercarriages cannot be inspected without a light
  • Glass mirrors shatter in the field
  • Full-size mirrors are too large to carry on the person

Who it is for

  • Gate teams inspecting vehicles by hand
  • Law enforcement officers carrying a search aid on the person
  • Tactical units needing unobtrusive close-in observation
  • Sites needing a recorded image of the inspection

What the range gives you

  • Mirror sizes from a 155 mm folding pocket unit to a 30 cm convex on wheels
  • Acrylic and non-friable lenses instead of mercury-plated glass
  • LED illumination built in, detachable as a search light on the UVSM-1
  • Telescopic rods from 45 cm to 110 cm so the operator does not stoop
  • Camera models with 170 degree infrared and optional DVR recording

Typical scenarios

  • Full undercarriage sweep at a vehicle checkpoint
  • Close-in observation with a pocket mirror carried in uniform
  • Recorded inspection where evidence is required
  • Checking under desks, stools and furniture during a sweep

Under Vehicle Inspection Mirrors and Cameras FAQ

Mirror or camera, which do we need

A mirror is cheaper, needs no power and is instant. A camera gives an image, infrared light for dark undercarriages and, with the DVR module, a record. Many sites carry both.

Which mirror can be carried in a pocket

The WD-MP, at 260 g, folding to 155 x 90 x 20 mm with a rigid handle extending to 460 mm.

Which has a light

The UVSM-1 has a detachable magnetic LED wand, and the UVSM-2 a superpower LED with a rechargeable battery.

Can the inspection be recorded

Yes, with the DVR module on the Vfinder or the 170 degree camera, supporting up to an 8 GB SD card.

Are the mirrors breakable

The acrylic lenses are specified as non-friable, unlike ordinary mercury-plated glass.

What ground clearance is needed

The UVSM-1 states a detectable minimum height of 10 cm. For lower vehicles, ask us about the camera options.
