Glass Insulators That Stay Visible When They Fail

A shattered toughened glass shell is spotted from the ground on the next line patrol. No hidden punctures, no thermal-vac testing campaign, no unplanned outage hunting for a dead unit.

What We Make And Who For

One Product Family Built Deep Not Wide

Toughened glass cap and pin suspension insulators for overhead transmission lines and substations, in standard, fog and aerodynamic shed profiles, from U40B through U500B.

Who We Serve

Transmission utilities, EPC contractors building lines and substations, hardware distributors carrying line fittings, and brand owners who need units marked with their own designation.

Why Customers Choose Us

A single plant in Pingxiang making one product family since November 2017, running GB, ANSI, BS, DIN, AS and IEC designs on the same line, holding ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and shipping to more than 40 countries.

The Problem We Solve

Porcelain and composite units fail invisibly. A punctured porcelain cap holds its shape and a degraded composite core hides inside a housing, so crews find them only with thermal or E-field survey gear. A toughened glass shell shatters and leaves the pin stub hanging, so the defective unit is identified on a routine ground patrol and replaced during planned work.

What Problem We Solve

Six Failures That Cost Utilities Outages

Each of these is a real selection or specification problem that shows up on lines and in substations. Every product family on this site exists to answer one of them.

You Cannot Find The Failed Unit

On porcelain strings a punctured cap looks identical to a healthy one. Finding it means a buzz-stick or thermal survey over every tower in the section. A toughened glass shell shatters completely when the dielectric fails, so the stub is visible from the access road.

Pollution Flashovers In Coastal And Industrial Air

Salt fog, cement dust, fertiliser plants and refinery fallout build a conductive film across a standard shed. Fog type units answer this with 400 mm and 450 mm creepage over the same 146 mm spacing, so the string grows in leakage distance without growing in length.

Deposits Trapped Under Deep Ribs

In dry desert and sandstorm regions, ribbed undersides collect what never washes off. The aerodynamic profile removes the ribs entirely and widens the shed to 380 mm so airflow strips the surface between rain events.

The Specification Names A Designation You Cannot Source

A tender may call out LXP-240 under GB, U160BS under IEC, or an ANSI class. We build against GB, ANSI, BS, DIN, AS and IEC designs on the same line, so the unit is marked with the class the specification asks for.

Strings Sized Without Real Mechanical Margin

Every catalogue lists a mechanical failing load. What sizes a tension set is the routine test tension the unit is proof loaded to. Our tables publish both, from 20 kN proof on a U40B to 275 kN proof on a U500B.

Breakage In Transit To Remote Sites

Glass units travelling to high altitude or inland project sites see more handling than the line ever will. Packing and stacking has to be specified with the order, not left to whoever loads the container.

Quality Control

Where A Defective Unit Gets Caught

Cap and pin assembly. Glass shells, galvanised caps and pins are cemented and racked for curing before mechanical and electrical routine tests.

  1. Glass Melting And FormingShells are pressed from molten glass to the shed profile the class calls for, then checked for form and thickness.
  2. Thermal TougheningShells pass through the toughening tunnel so the surface goes into compression. This is what makes a failed unit shatter instead of crack quietly.
  3. Thermal Shock CheckToughened shells are thermally cycled so units carrying internal stress break in the plant rather than on the tower.
  4. Cap And Pin CementingGalvanised cap and pin are cemented to the shell and racked for cure, as shown in the workshop photograph above.
  5. Routine Mechanical TestEvery unit is proof loaded in tension to the routine test value published in the specification table for its class.
  6. Electrical Routine TestUnits are checked against the power frequency and impulse values listed for the class before release.
  7. Marking And PackingUnits are marked with class and year, then packed for the destination and transport mode agreed on the order.
