Stainless Steel Sculpture for Campuses Plazas and Public Space

A campus or civic piece has to answer to a committee, a facilities team and a maintenance budget, not just to a designer. That means the questions are about vandal resistance, wall thickness, anchor detail and what it costs to keep clean in year ten. Stainless steel answers most of them: no repainting, no rot, and a surface that a facilities team can wash rather than refinish.

Pain Points

What Goes Wrong on These Projects

Problems

  • Painted public pieces need repainting on a cycle nobody budgeted for
  • Wall thickness specified for looks fails where the public can climb on the piece
  • Anchor details arrive after the concrete has been poured
  • Procurement needs weights and drawings before an order can be raised
  • Winter salting destroys the wrong grade within a few seasons

What Buyers Need

  • Heavier wall thickness where the piece is within public reach
  • Anchor and base plate details early enough for the civil works
  • Weights and dimensions for procurement and crane planning
  • A finish a facilities team can maintain with water and a cloth
  • 316 wherever de-icing salt is used

FAQ

Campus and Public Space Questions

What wall thickness suits a piece the public can touch?

Heavier than a garden piece of the same size. Tell us whether people will lean on or climb the work and we will specify accordingly within the 1 to 6 mm range.

Can you supply weights and drawings for procurement?

Yes. Shop drawings for large pieces include base plate, bolt pattern, weight and lift points.

Which grade where roads are salted in winter?

AISI 316. De-icing salt is a chloride problem and 304 will eventually pit on an exposed civic site.

What does maintenance look like for a facilities team?

Washing with clean water and a soft cloth. No repainting cycle. Avoid wire brushes and chloride based cleaners.

How long from order to delivery?

15 to 30 days after the deposit is received, plus your freight time from Shenzhen.
