Free Standing and Based Spheres
A sphere can sit directly on lawn, gravel or paving, or be mounted on a base. We have mounted spheres on granite bases and on fabricated steel bases, and base plates are made to the fixing centres of the foundation you are building.
Fountain Mounting
For a water feature we run an inner pipe through the hollow ball with a funnel shaped ending at the top. That shape gives an even flow of water from the top of the sphere so it runs gently over the whole mirror surface.
The pipe exits at the bottom of the sphere and regularly has a further 10 inch length extending out, which is then attached to a square stainless base plate for mounting the fountain ball. These units are custom built, so pipe lengths and base plate sizes are made to your basin.
Planning Access
Large spheres need to reach their final position in one move. Agree the crating dimensions, the access route and the lifting arrangement before the piece ships, because 7 feet is the largest diameter that travels by conventional freight.
