Guide to Metal Hemispheres and Domes

Stamping, spinning and welded assembly, with the size ranges each route covers.

Two Production Routes

Stamping press hemispheres cover Φ20 mm to Φ700 mm with 0.6 mm to 3 mm thickness. Welded and assembled hemispheres cover Φ200 mm to Φ3500 mm with the same thickness range. Weld seams on assembled domes are finished so they are invisible.

Materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and aluminium.

Finishes

Mirror polish, mill finish, brush, electroplating, sandblasting, etching and silk printing are all available. Double sided polishing is possible where both faces are seen, and internal plus external polishing is offered on dome work.

Choosing Between Them

Small repeat quantities suit stamping, because the press gives consistent geometry batch after batch. Large architectural domes have to be assembled and welded, and the work then moves into seam finishing and polishing.
