Syringe Filter

Easyfil Syringe Filter

Easyfil™ Syringe Filter is designed for routine sample clean-up in HPLC, GC and UV analysis. The injection-moulded sealing and single-layer membrane construction reduce extractables, helping maintain clean gradient HPLC baselines. Colour-coded printing on each housing allows immediate identification of membrane type and pore size at the bench without referencing labels.

  • One product family covers nine membranes, enabling standardisation across aqueous, organic and protein-bearing samples
  • Single-layer membrane construction minimises dissolution, reducing ghost peaks in gradient HPLC runs
  • Injection-moulded sealing withstands 6 bar at 23 C, preventing housing failure during high-pressure or viscous sample filtration
  • Colour coding with printed identification enables quick verification of membrane type and pore size at the bench

Where It Is Used

Applications And Buyers

Application Scenarios

  • Filtering mobile phases and standards before HPLC and UHPLC injection
  • Removing particulates from dissolution samples in pharmaceutical QC
  • Clarifying environmental water samples before ion chromatography
  • Preparing beverage, juice and edible-oil samples for residue analysis
  • Filtering cell culture supernatant and buffers in life-science laboratories

Who It Is For

  • Pharmaceutical QC laboratories running high injection counts where consumable cost per sample matters
  • Environmental and food testing laboratories that handle mixed aqueous and solvent matrices in the same shift
  • Contract research organisations standardising consumables across several instruments
  • Laboratory distributors who need a full membrane range from one supplier and one packing format

Problems It Solves

  • Column frits blocking early due to unfiltered particulates in sample streams
  • Extractables from multi-layer or solvent-bonded filters appearing as ghost peaks in gradient HPLC runs
  • Filters bursting mid-injection when a sample is more viscous than expected
  • Analysts selecting the wrong pore size because housings lack clear markings
  • Sourcing nine different membrane types from multiple vendors with inconsistent housings and validation histories

Comparison

Compared With The Alternatives

Versus Multi-layer syringe filters

The single-layer membrane keeps dissolution low, which matters when a gradient HPLC method is sensitive to extractables. Multi-layer builds add a prefilter for dirty samples but bring more contact material into the flow path.

Versus Solvent-bonded housings

Injection-moulded sealing avoids the adhesive that solvent bonding leaves in the flow path and holds a 6 bar operating pressure.

Versus Agilent ValueLab syringe filters

Easyfil is specified as a replacement for the Agilent ValueLab range, so the same membranes and diameters are available without changing filter geometry.

Versus Reusable filter holders

A reusable holder lowers consumable cost on large volumes but requires cleaning between samples and carries a carry-over risk that a single-use filter does not.

Use Guide

How To Use It

  • Choose the membrane by sample chemistry: PTFE and PP for aggressive solvents, PES and MCE for aqueous samples, Nylon and RC for mixed mobile phases
  • Choose 13 mm for sample volumes up to a few millilitres and 25 mm when the volume or particle load is higher
  • Use 0.45 micron for routine HPLC clean-up and 0.22 micron where finer particulates or sterile-grade clarification is required
  • Attach the syringe to the female luer lock inlet, expel air, then filter at a steady rate
  • Discard the first drops if the method is sensitive to the membrane wetting solvent
  • Do not exceed 6 bar at 23 C; if pressure rises sharply, change to a larger diameter or a coarser pore size

FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask

Which membrane should I use for HPLC mobile phase filtration?

For aqueous mobile phases PES or MCE at 0.45 micron is the usual choice. For organic mobile phases and aggressive solvents use PTFE or PP. RC and Nylon work across mixed aqueous and organic phases.

What is the difference between the 13 mm and 25 mm sizes?

The 13 mm filter has a 1.09 cm² filtration area and suits small sample volumes. The 25 mm filter has 2.98 cm² and handles larger volumes or heavier particle loads before it blocks.

What pressure can the filter take?

Maximum operating pressure is 6 bar at 23 C. The housing is sealed by injection moulding rather than solvent bonding, which is what allows that rating.

Can Easyfil replace our current Agilent ValueLab filters?

Yes. Easyfil is specified as a replacement for the Agilent ValueLab syringe filter range in the same 13 mm and 25 mm diameters.

How are the filters packed?

Standard packing is 100 pieces per pack. Each housing carries colour coding and a printed part number so membrane type and pore size can be confirmed at the bench.

Do you supply these under our own brand?

Yes. The Microlab OEM division covers OEM plastic devices, OEM contract manufacturing, and membrane die-cut and packing, so private-label printing and packing can be arranged.
