Solar Pump Inverters

MPPT solar pump inverters that take DC straight from a PV array and drive AC pumps directly, with no battery bank in the system.

Who This Range Is For

  • Irrigation contractors and farm projects that have no reliable grid supply
  • Rural and municipal water supply projects using elevated tanks or reservoirs
  • Solar EPC companies building complete PV pumping systems
  • Distributors in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Latin America

Where It Is Used

KEWO solar pump inverters are used in land irrigation, domestic water supply, fish farming, livestock, swimming pools, fountains, drip irrigation and sprinkler systems.

FAQ

Solar Pump Inverter — Questions We Get Asked

Does a KEWO solar pump inverter need batteries?

No. The design philosophy is that it is more efficient to store water than electricity, so there is no storage battery in the system. The array feeds the inverter directly and water is stored in an elevated tank, water tower or reservoir.

Can it run from the grid as well as from the panels?

Yes. The inverters operate in dual supply mode and accept either DC from the PV array or an AC supply, so the pump can still run when there is no sunlight. Only one supply is connected at a time.

Which pumps can it drive?

Single and three phase AC induction pumps, and high efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motor pumps as an option. Centrifugal, axial flow, mixed flow and deep well pumps are all used, depending on the system demand and the installation.

How do I choose the solar panel array?

You need the Voc, Vmp and power of the panel. Voc sets how many panels you can put in series into the inverter MPPT window, and Vmp is where the array actually delivers its power. There is a full explanation on our solar pumping system article.

What protection is built in?

Dry run or under load protection, water tank full detection, maximum pump current protection, low stop frequency protection, sleep and wake up on falling and rising sunlight, plus short circuit, phase missing, over current and over voltage protection.

Can the system be monitored remotely?

Yes, with the GPRS DTU module. It gives remote start and stop and working status monitoring over the mobile network, anywhere a phone has coverage.
