Drives Peripheral Equipment

EMC filters, sine wave and dv/dt filters, AC and DC reactors, braking units and braking resistors to complete a drive installation.

Who This Range Is For

  • Installations that have to meet EMC limits on the supply or motor side
  • Long motor cable runs where dv/dt stress on the winding is a concern
  • Fast stopping applications such as centrifuges, wire drawing machines, cranes and elevators

Where It Is Used

KEWO peripheral equipments are used in any AC drive installation that needs filtering, harmonic reduction or dynamic braking.

FAQ

Peripheral Equipment — Questions We Get Asked

Which filter do I need for long motor cables?

A dv/dt filter limits the rate of voltage rise at the motor terminals and protects the winding insulation. For the longest runs a sine wave filter converts the PWM output into a near sine wave and is the stronger solution.

What is the difference between an input and an output filter?

The input filter stops interference passing between the supply cable and the drive. The output filter does the same on the motor side. Both work over roughly 100 kHz to 30 MHz.

When do I need a braking unit and resistor?

When the application has to stop fast — centrifuges, wire drawing machines, cranes and elevators. During rapid deceleration the motor regenerates and the DC bus voltage rises. The braking unit and resistor consume that energy so the drive does not trip on over voltage.

What is the operating environment limit for the filters?

Up to 2000 m altitude at full current, derating 2 percent per additional 100 m. Working temperature -25 °C to 45 °C, relative humidity not over 90 percent, no hazardous gas and no inflammable or explosive material, with adequate ventilation.
