Soft Starter — Questions We Get Asked

When is a soft starter the right choice instead of a VFD?

When the load does not need speed control during running and the only problem is the shock and inrush current at start. A soft starter is smaller and cheaper for that duty. If you need to vary speed in normal operation you need a drive.

Do I still need a bypass contactor?

Not with the ST200 and ST300 online soft starters — the bypass is built in, so no external AC contactor is required.

Can you supply a complete starter panel?

Yes. The ST300 online soft starter control panel is supplied ready built, and online soft starters are also installed into cabinets in our own factory.
