Reducing Changeover Time In Rigid Box Production

When a plant runs six formats a week, changeover time decides profitability more than rated speed does. Three mechanisms cut it on Guorun machines.

Pattern import instead of manual teaching

Glue graphics are imported as files. The operator recalls the pattern for a returning format instead of setting it again, which is why Guorun quotes around five minutes per product change on the semi-automatic machines.

Mould-free corner switching

Bottomless, enclosed and bottomed inner boxes are handled by switching the four-corner device mode. There is no tooling to find, fit or store.

Bubble pressing without module replacement

The one-time automatic bubble pressing system does not need a module change between formats, removing another mechanical step from the changeover.

What to standardise on your side

Record the spray pattern file name, the corner device mode and the envelope settings for each format. A changeover that takes five minutes on the machine can still take thirty if nobody wrote the setup down.

Questions From This Guide

How long is a typical changeover

Guorun quotes about five minutes per product replacement on the GR-600B and GR-1000B, including importing the spray pattern.

Does a fully automatic machine change over faster

Not necessarily faster, but more repeatably, because the servo linkage returns to the same positions rather than being reset by hand.
