Machined brass and steel shaft components with threads and knurls on a dark surface
Material Guide

Brass C360 and Copper

Free-machining brass C360 and copper for detail parts, bushings and fittings where weight, colour and a clean cut edge all matter.

Overview

Why Choose This Material

Brass cuts cleanly enough to hold fine detail, carries weight in the hand, and ages into a finish buyers actually want.

  • Free-machining, so fine knurls and threads come out crisp
  • Adds deliberate weight to small carried parts
  • Natural colour needs no coating to look finished
  • Copper available where conductivity or appearance calls for it
Trade-Offs

What To Watch For

  • Heavier than aluminum — intentional on an EDC part, a problem on a long hilt
  • Bare brass patinas over time; specify a finish if you want it to stay bright
  • Softer than steel, so avoid it for threads that will be cycled constantly

Every point above is a design decision, not a warning. Raise it while the drawing is still open and it costs nothing to solve.

FAQ

Brass C360 and Copper Questions

Do you machine brass?

Yes. Brass is one of the materials GRACTS specialises in, alongside aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel.

Will bare brass tarnish?

Bare brass develops a patina with handling. If you want it to stay bright, specify a plated or polished finish on the order.

Can brass parts be plated?

Yes. Electroplating in nickel, chrome or zinc is available, as are mirror polishing and brushed finishes.
