Materials GRACTS Machines and When To Use Them
Four material families plus carbon steel, compared by weight, thread wear, finish options and machining time — so the choice is made from the application, not habit.
Material
Aluminum 6061 and 7075
The default choice for machined bodies, chassis and housings — light, fast to cut, and the only listed material that takes Type II and Type III anodizing.

Material
Stainless Steel 303 304 and 316L
For parts that carry load, cycle threads or need corrosion resistance, in 303, 304 and 316L, finished by passivation.

Material
Brass C360 and Copper
Free-machining brass C360 and copper for detail parts, bushings and fittings where weight, colour and a clean cut edge all matter.

Material
Engineering Plastics POM and PEEK
POM and PEEK for insulating, low-friction and lightweight parts inside otherwise metal assemblies.
Material guide →| Aluminum 6061 / 7075 | Bodies, chassis, housings — anodizes in colour, lightest metal offered |
|---|---|
| Stainless steel 303 / 304 / 316L | Threads, shafts, load-carrying parts — passivated, corrosion resistant |
| Brass C360 / copper | Detail parts, bushings, knurled hardware — free machining, adds weight |
| Carbon steel | Functional parts where strength matters more than corrosion resistance |
| Engineering plastics (POM, PEEK) | Insulating, low-friction and lightweight parts, machined as-is |
| Other materials | Available on request — ask when you send the drawing |
Tolerances apply across all of these: ±0.05 mm as standard, ±0.01 mm where the drawing calls for it, and ISO 2768-m on untoleranced dimensions.
Material Questions
What materials do you work with?
Brass, aluminum (6061 / 7075), stainless steel (303 / 304 / 316L) and carbon steel, plus engineering plastics including POM and PEEK. Other materials are available on request.
Can you recommend a material for my part?
Yes. Send the drawing with a note about how the part is used and a recommendation comes back with the quote.
Do you supply material certificates?
Certificate availability is confirmed per order. Ask when you send the drawing so it can be arranged before production starts.
Not Sure Which Alloy Your Part Should Be
Send the drawing and describe how the part is used. A material recommendation comes back with the quote inside 24 hours.
