In Line Testing of Underground Corner Lights Before Delivery

A recessed in-ground fixture is the most expensive thing on site to replace. Once the paving is laid, a sealing or electrical fault means lifting hardscape, so faults have to be caught in the factory.

Background

Client Background

This case describes FENGDIAN's own production practice for in-ground corner fixtures rather than a named customer project. No client, country or quantity has been published for it.

Challenge

Project Challenge

A recessed in-ground fixture is the most expensive thing on site to replace. Once the paving is laid, a sealing or electrical fault means lifting hardscape, so faults have to be caught in the factory.

Pain Points

Customer Pain Points

  • Replacing a failed in-ground fixture means breaking up finished paving
  • Sealing faults do not show up until the fixture has been standing in water
  • A fault found after shipping costs far more than the fixture itself
Solution

Our Solution

Underground corner lights are tested after production and checked carefully before delivery, with quality control treated as the last gate before the goods leave the factory.

Production

Manufacturing Process

  • Aluminium body and stainless steel cover assembly
  • LED board fitting and sealing of the fixture
  • Powered testing after production
  • Final check before packing and delivery
Supply Chain

Supply Chain Coordination

Fixtures are produced in the company's own factories and held for the pre-delivery check before despatch by express, air or sea freight.

QC

Quality Control

Every fixture is checked before delivery. FENGDIAN states a defective rate below 0.2%, and within the warranty period replacements for small quantities ship with the next order.

Result

Final Result

In-ground fixtures leave the factory tested rather than untested, which moves the failure point away from finished paving on site.

Benefit

Customer Benefit

Contractors installing recessed fixtures into hardscape carry less risk of a fault that can only be fixed by lifting paving after handover.
