Fanfold kraft is the highest volume item on most packing benches, which makes it the first thing worth producing in house. The decision is really about format width, fold length and how much speed the order book justifies.
The Route From Requirement To Production
Fold length
8 to 15 inch, standard 11 inch, and the module is changed to move between lengths.
Fold length has to match the dispenser your customer already owns, so it is agreed before the machine is built rather than after.
Format width
470 mm on the 500 models, 780 mm to 800 mm on the wide builds.
Narrow fanfold forces double wrapping on larger items. Wide fanfold wastes paper on small ones. Most operations end up running both.
Line speed
90, 150 or 200 m per minute across four models.
Speed is a volume decision. The EM-PF500A at 90 m per minute is the entry point and the SD-PF500B shares its format at 200 m per minute.
Single or two layer
A single layer fanfold tears on sharp corners.
The EM-PF800A feeds two rolls and C-folds them inline into a two layer web that is much stronger at the surface, on a 6500 mm frame.
Roll handling
Parent reels to 1200 mm diameter are not lifted by hand.
The high speed models have an automatic lifting unwinding system, which is a safety decision as much as a productivity one.
Stacking and despatch
The finished pile has to be square before it is banded.
Conveyor stacking delivers the pile ready to band and palletise, with no manual folding step.

The EM-PF500A at 90 m per minute and 800 kg, which shares its 470 mm format with the high speed SD-PF500B so the step up later does not change the product.
How much floor length does the C-fold machine need?
6500 mm, against 3500 mm for the single layer machines, plus operator access.
Can the perforation length be changed after delivery?
Yes, by changing the folding module, within the 8 to 15 inch range.
