Guardrail Post Types C Z H and Bolt Down
The post determines how the barrier performs during a collision. Proper installation of the post is what lets the beam do its job, so choosing the right section and fixing method matters as much as choosing the beam.
What the Post Does
The post supports the beam and usually determines the performance of the guardrail during a collision. The right post gives the barrier a strong ability to absorb collision energy and lets it be coordinated with the road line shape and the other roadside facilities.
C Post
A common section in South American markets. C post is widely used in Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile, where Hongda produces and exports to American countries by the hundreds of containers yearly.
Z Post and H Post
Z and H sections are both produced. H posts are offered both with and without flanges, differentiated according to the intended application.
Flanged or Unflanged
Posts without flanges are mostly fixed into soft soil by the post itself. If the post has to be fixed on concrete pavement, the post with a steel plate is the better choice: long bolts secure it to the required position.
Bolt Down Post
The bolt down post is the option for fixing to a prepared surface rather than driving into ground.
Finish
Posts have a long service life and the surface is usually hot-dip galvanized or spray-coated to provide rust and corrosion resistance. Cutting and punching are done with laser cutting and punching machines, which is what holds the hole pattern accurate.
