Overview

The Short Version

Buffing wheel factories are the core customer for CRATOOLS machines. A complete airway buff line is CRA-500 bias fabric cutting slitting and rolling, CRA-800 or CRA-300 forming, CRA-600 pressing and CRA-700 edge or trim cutting. Corrugated and weave buffs are formed on the CRA-360 in 20, 30, 32, 36 and 44 weave options. Pleated buffs use a fold and stitch machine with a fabric feed rack plus a roll glue press machine. Sisal rope buffs use a dedicated sisal rope buffs forming machine. Sewing is done on an SG01M spiral stitch sewing machine or a one metre long arm heavy duty buffs sewing machine. Raw materials supplied include treated fabric cloth in orange, blue and yellow, sisal cloth, poplin cotton fabric, iron plates and iron clinch rings. After 15 years the bias airway buffing wheel process machines are used by hundreds of buffing wheel factories in China.

Pain Points

Where It Goes Wrong

  • Hand formed wheels vary in ply spacing so the finish drifts between operators and shifts
  • Manual folding caps output and ties up several workers per line
  • Raw material comes from one supplier and tooling from another so nothing is matched
  • Adding a new wheel structure such as weave or pleated buffs means a new supplier relationship
Requirements

What Buyers Need

  • A forming machine that holds wheel geometry across a shift
  • Tooling that matches the iron claws and plates already in use
  • A material supply that matches the machine settings
  • Training in English so the operator manual matches the control panel
Scenarios

Typical Situations

  • A first airway buff line from fabric roll through cutting forming pressing and trimming
  • An existing line adding 500 to 600 mm wheels for sheet metal polishing customers
  • A wheel maker adding corrugated weave buffs on a CRA-360 beside the airway line
  • A maker of pleated buffs moving from hand folding to a fold and stitch machine with glue press
Process

How The Work Runs

Step 1

Bias cutting slitting and rolling on the CRA-500 so fabric enters the former on the bias

Step 2

Forming on the CRA-800 for 200 to 600 mm or the CRA-300 iris machine for 100 to 250 mm

Step 3

Pressing on the CRA-600 buffing polishing wheel pressing machine

Step 4

Edge and trim cutting on the CRA-700

Step 5

Sewing where the construction needs it on an SG01M spiral stitch machine or a one metre long arm machine

FAQ

Abrasive and Buffing Wheel Manufacturing FAQ

Can you supply a complete line rather than single machines?

Yes. A standard airway line is CRA-500, CRA-800 or CRA-300, CRA-600 and CRA-700, quoted together.

Will the machines work with our existing iron claws?

The forming machines take 2 inch, 2.5 inch and 5 inch iron claws and iron plates with round or hexagon holes. Send us the centre you use.

Do you also sell the fabric and sisal?

Yes. Treated fabric cloth, sisal cloth, poplin cotton fabric, iron plates and clinch rings are all supplied.

What output should we plan for?

The CRA-800 is rated up to 5000 pieces per day with one operator. Real output depends on diameter, ply count and material.

What voltage is standard?

380 V three phase four wire, customisable for the destination market.

How do we get a quotation?

Send the wheel sizes, structures and monthly volume you need on WhatsApp or by email and we quote the machine list against it.
