What The Two Constructions Do

Elastic pallet net is supplied at 9 gsm and stretches as it is applied, so it conforms to an uneven load and pulls the outer cartons inward. Non elastic net is supplied at 6.2, 7 and 8 gram per square metre and holds a fixed geometry, which is what a square stable load actually wants. Both are flexible in wrapping method and run on machines or by hand.

Choose By Load Shape

If the pallet is stacked unevenly, mixes carton sizes, or carries anything that can work loose at the edge, the elastic construction earns its extra weight by pulling the load together. If the pallet is uniform and stable, the non elastic net at a lower gram weight contains it perfectly well and costs less material per pallet.

Match Roll Length To The Line

Manual wrapping runs on 50 cm by 500 m and 50 cm by 1000 m. Automatic packing machines run on 50 cm by 3000 m and 3500 m, or 75 cm by 2000 m and 3000 m. Choosing the longest roll the machine accepts means roll changes fall between pallets rather than in the middle of one.

Why Net Instead Of Stretch Film

Solid film seals a load, which is exactly wrong for produce still carrying field heat. The open mesh of net lets heat and condensation escape while still containing the load, and it does so with less material per pallet. For goods that need a moisture barrier rather than containment, solid film remains the right answer.

Market Specific Sizes Are Worth Asking For

Not every line runs a 50 cm roll. A 45 cm by 500 m roll at 12 gsm is produced for the Spanish and Portuguese markets, and any other width or length is available as a customised run. If your line is wasting net on every pallet because the width is wrong, that is a fixable cost.
