Carbon Fiber Chair Project
A carbon fiber chair project listed among the success cases developed by the CarbonWizer team, producing composite seating frames and shells.
Who the Work Was For
A seating project producing carbon fiber chair frames. The previous CarbonWizer site described this work as the ShenZhou 11 astronauts chair project - see the note below.
Note on attribution: The previous CarbonWizer site presented this project as the ShenZhou 11 astronauts chair. That attribution is carried over from the source site and is marked TBC - it has not been independently verified and should be confirmed before it is used in sales material.
Project Challenge
Seating structures combine a large moulded shell with high local loads at the mounting points, and both have to be held in one part without adding weight.
Customer Pain Points
- Large shells that are heavy in metal and flexible in plastic
- High local loads concentrated at a few mounting points
- Surface finish visible across a large area, so defects cannot hide
Our Solution
Composite seating frames and shells are produced with the lay-up thickened locally at the load paths, using moulding routes suited to large panels including vacuum infusion and autoclave cure.
Manufacturing Process
Mould design and making in house, followed by lay-up, cure, trimming and spray finishing - the same one-stop route used across the CarbonWizer catalogue.
Supply Chain Coordination
Frames are produced with their metal fittings so the seating assembly is delivered complete.
Quality Control
Large visible surfaces are inspected across the whole panel, since finish defects on a shell of this size cannot be hidden.
Final Result
The carbon fiber chair project is listed among the success cases developed by the CarbonWizer team.
Customer Benefit
A single moulded composite shell replaces a fabricated metal frame and a separate seat pan, at a fraction of the weight.
Parts Behind This Project

Carbon Fiber Sheet
Stock carbon fiber plates fabricated from multiple layers of high strength prepreg under high pressure moulding, in ten thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 5.0 mm at 500 x 400 mm.

Carbon Fiber Structural Arm
A full carbon fiber arm made as a verification sample, carrying the strength and stiffness of a production composite part so the structure can be tested before a mould is cut.

Can you share the customer name?
No. Customer names are withheld, so projects are described by type and sector rather than by buyer.
Can you reproduce this kind of work for us?
Yes. The same route is available - requirement analysis, material and process selection, mould design and making, prototyping and production.
How long would a project like this take?
Sample orders are normally shipped within one week, and normal production orders take 15 to 25 days. Tooling lead time is quoted separately per part.
