Why Air Cushion Packaging Spread With E-Commerce

The growth of express logistics made safe transport of goods a bigger problem than it had been. Many companies did not have a good transport and packaging method, goods arrived deformed and damaged, and that reflected directly on the company's image. Air cushion packaging solved the high damage rate and the high return rate that came with it, mainly by filling the gaps in the pack and buffering what is inside.

Air Pillow Is for Filling Space

The air pillow is the smallest format and the one most buyers start with. It is used to fill the void around a boxed product so the item cannot move. Sizes run 200*100 mm, 200*130 mm, 200*150 mm and 200*200 mm, all at 20 um thickness on 300 M rolls. A roll weighs 2.5 KG and cartons hold 4 rolls.

Air Bubble Film Is for Wrapping

Air bubble film is the wider format used to wrap a product rather than to fill space beside it. Sizes are 400*285 mm, 400*320 mm and 400*160 mm at 4.9 KG per roll, 600*320 mm and 600*400 mm at 7.1 KG, and 800*320 mm and 800*400 mm at 9.4 KG. All run 300 M per roll at 20 um and pack 2 rolls per carton.

Air Quilt Is for Layer Padding

Air quilt film inflates into a flat cushioned sheet rather than a chain of separate pillows, which makes it the right choice for padding between layers of product inside a carton. It is produced in 400*250 mm and 400*140 mm, on the same 300 M rolls.

Small Tube Is for Tight Gaps

Small tube film produces narrow inflated tubes that fit into gaps too small for a pillow, such as the space along the side of a boxed unit. The format runs at 400*150 mm on a 300 M roll.

Choosing Between Them

Match the format to what the carton actually needs. If the product is boxed and the problem is empty space, use air pillow. If the product needs a wrap around its surface, use air bubble film. If you are stacking layers, use air quilt. If the gap is narrow, use small tube. All four inflate on the same machine, so the choice is a film change rather than an equipment change.
