Project Challenge
Silver scrap and old jewelry arrive at 80-90% purity. Traditional nitric acid refining consumes acid and emits fume, and outsourced refining costs a fee and a loss allowance on every kilo.
Our Solution
An electrolytic silver cell matched to the daily flow. Workshop machines use four titanium baskets and a titanium cylinder cathode; production machines use titanium basket anodes with titanium plate cathodes, an automatic scraper and electrolyte filtration.
Process Steps
Step
Silver is charged into titanium baskets as the anode.
Step
10% dilute nitric acid is prepared as the electrolyte.
Step
Electrolysis dissolves the silver and redeposits it on the cathode.
Step
Silver sludge is collected through the sloped or oblique bottom of the cell on the production machines.
Step
Gold and copper are separated from the anode mud.
