Glass Fog Profile Suspension Insulators LXHP-120 / U120BP

120 kN Fog Profile Glass Disc With 450 mm Creepage

LXHP-120 / U120BP is a 120 kN toughened glass fog disc on a 280 mm shed, carrying 450 mm of creepage on a 146 mm spacing with a 16 mm coupling. At approximately 5.6 kg per unit it is the lightest disc in the fog range that still reaches 120 kN, which keeps handling manageable on long suspension strings. It is the usual choice when a standard-profile string has started to flash over under pollution.

Key Benefits

  • 450 mm creepage against 320 mm on a comparable standard-profile disc
  • 120 kN failing load with a 60 kN routine tension proof
  • 5.6 kg per unit keeps long strings manageable to build and lift
  • 125 kV dry lightning impulse withstand voltage

Technical Features

  • 280 mm fog profile shed, 146 mm spacing
  • 16 mm ball and socket coupling
  • 85 kV dry and 50 kV wet power-frequency withstand voltage
  • 50 uV maximum RIV at 1000 kHz

Application Scenarios

  • 110 kV and 220 kV suspension strings in agricultural and desert dust
  • Lines passing chemical works or cement plants
  • Replacement of standard-profile strings with a recorded flashover history

Who It Is For

  • Utilities upgrading pollution performance on existing 120 kN strings
  • EPC contractors specifying suspension strings on new transmission lines
  • Stockists supplying line maintenance crews

Problems It Solves

  • Repeated pollution flashover on standard-profile strings
  • Heavy discs that slow down long-string assembly at height
  • Uncertainty about which units in an old string are already punctured
Comparison

How This Design Differs From the Alternatives

Compared With LXP-120 / U120BL standard profile

Same 120 kN rating and 16 mm coupling, but 450 mm creepage instead of 320 mm for polluted sites.

Compared With LXHP-70 / U70BP

Same fog profile family at nearly twice the mechanical rating, for strings carrying heavier conductors.

Use Guide

Specifying and Installing This Unit

  • Compare the existing string creepage with the site requirement before ordering a like-for-like count
  • Keep the 60 kN tension proof value as the routine working reference
  • Wash or replace units that carry heavy cement or salt deposit rather than relying on rain
  • Assemble with the cap uppermost and check every socket clip is seated
Questions Buyers Ask

Questions About This Product

How many units do we need for a 110 kV line?

The count follows from your specific creepage requirement and system voltage, then a check against the impulse withstand. With 450 mm per unit you can run that calculation directly. Send us the pollution class and we will sanity check the result.

Is 120 kN enough for a bundled conductor?

For twin bundles on many designs it is, but this must be confirmed against your line loading. Where the calculation exceeds the 60 kN proof value, step up to the 160 kN or 210 kN unit.

Does the fog profile collect more dirt?

The deep under-ribs are shielded from direct rain, which is why they retain creepage when the top surface is wetted. Under heavy industrial fallout, periodic washing is still recommended.

What is the difference between LXHP and U120BP designations?

They are the GB and IEC style designations for the same unit. Both appear on our drawings so the same item can be matched to either specification.

Can you supply a type test report?

Yes. Type test reports for this design are available on request, and routine test records for your production lot are issued with the shipment.
