How do we size a post for a busbar?
Calculate the peak electromagnetic force from the short-circuit current, conductor spacing and support span, apply your safety factor, then compare with the cantilever rating of the post.
When does torsion strength matter?
Whenever a switch or disconnector is mounted on the post. The operating reaction torque passes straight into the porcelain, which is why both 800 N-m and 1500 N-m ratings are published.

Are these suitable for indoor switchgear?
The C4-125 is the compact post used in medium voltage panels. Check the shed diameter against the enclosure clearance before specifying.
What creepage do we need in a substation?
It follows from the substation pollution class in mm per kV. The per-unit figures of 500 mm and 850 mm let you close that calculation.
