Carbide Tooling for Mechanical Manufacturing
How to specify carbide wear-resistant parts: grade, cobalt content, application, customisation, and quality control. Used in machining, mining, oil and gas, and agriculture.
What Carbide Wear-Resistant Parts Actually Are
Carbide wear-resistant parts are sintered components made from tungsten carbide powder bonded with cobalt or nickel. They are used in industrial applications where abrasion, erosion, and wear are present. The material is hard and durable, suitable for direct use as wear parts or as inserts in cutting tools, drills, and machining components.
Material Composition and Grade Selection
The base material is tungsten carbide (WC) with a binder of cobalt or nickel. Grades vary by cobalt content and grain size, affecting hardness and toughness. YL10.2 has 10 percent cobalt and a fine 0.6 to 0.8 micron grain, while YG15 has 15 percent cobalt and a coarser 1.2 to 2.0 micron grain. The choice depends on the application's wear and shock load requirements.
Common Industrial Applications
Carbide wear-resistant parts are used in cutting tools, drilling bits, mining equipment, wear plates, agricultural tools, oil and gas downhole tools, and automotive components. They are selected where high hardness and resistance to abrasion are critical to performance and longevity.
Customisation Based on Drawings or Samples
The company accepts custom drawings and physical samples for manufacturing. Parts are produced to specified dimensions, shape, and material grade. This includes moulds, valve seats, sealing rings, shaft sleeves, and other specially shaped wear components.
Quality Control and Pre-Shipment Verification
Every order is tested before bulk production. Physical properties, shape, and tolerance are verified. Inspection photographs are sent to the buyer for confirmation before delivery. This ensures consistency and reduces risk of non-conformance.
