OEM and ODM Carbide Supply
Equipment builders and distributors who resell carbide parts need the part to arrive the same way every time, under their own part number. This route covers how that is set up and held stable.
What Happens At Each Stage
Each stage lists the thing that usually goes wrong and what we do about it.
Scope
Problem. A parts list built from several suppliers drifts apart on tolerance and material over time.
The whole family of parts is quoted together so grade and tolerance decisions are made once, not part by part.
First Article
Problem. Approving a part from a photograph leaves the buyer carrying the risk.
A first article is produced and inspected against the drawing, with the inspection record shared before bulk release.
Mould Records
Problem. A repeat order made from a re-cut mould is not the same part.
Repeat parts run from the same mould, so the geometry that was qualified is the geometry that ships.
Production
Problem. Small runs interleaved with large ones are where schedules slip.
Existing moulds across many models shorten the production cycle, and stock items ship 3-5 days after payment is received.
Inspection and Records
Problem. A quality problem found after the container lands is expensive to argue about.
Every order is tested before bulk production, physical properties, shape and tolerance are checked before shipping, and detailed inspection photographs are sent for confirmation before delivery.
After Delivery
Problem. A quality claim from overseas is hard to evidence.
Photographs of the problem are enough to open a claim, and replacements are provided according to the actual condition.
The Production Route Behind It
Weighing In of Ingredients
Tungsten carbide powder and cobalt binder weighed to the grade formula.
Milling
Powders wet milled so the binder is evenly distributed through the mix.
Spray Drying
The slurry is spray dried into free-flowing granules that press consistently.
Testing
Granulate checked before it is committed to a press run.
Forming
Blanks pressed on imported presses from the mould for that part.
Sintering
Sintered at around 1450 degrees C in an over-pressure furnace to close porosity.
Machining
Ground and finished to the dimensions on the drawing.
Quality Control
Physical properties, shape and tolerance checked, then inspection photographs sent before delivery.
