Problems This Family Solves
- Steel rollers wear out quickly in high-speed or abrasive rolling applications
- Frequent roll changes increase downtime and reduce production output
- Surface defects on rolled material due to inconsistent roller hardness or geometry
- Roller cracks or breakage occur under high stress or thermal cycling
- Lack of standard sizes for non-standard roll ring configurations increases sourcing complexity
- Cooling systems cause thermal shock and reduce roller life when applied improperly
Who Buys These Parts
- Steel and wire rod mill operators requiring long-life rollers for rebar and rod production
- Foil and strip rolling line engineers seeking high surface quality and precision
- Machinery manufacturers building cold rolling stands with composite roll rings
- Tooling suppliers supplying replacement rollers for existing mill configurations
- Maintenance teams replacing worn or cracked rollers in high-speed wire rolling
Why These Parts Hold Up
- Composite roll rings reduce groove and roll change frequency on front stands
- High hardness and wear resistance extend service life up to 20-30 times that of iron rolls
- Pressed and sintered using hot isostatic pressing for high density and low porosity
- Available in diameters Φ300-450mm and thicknesses 30-150mm for bar reducing and sizing
- Custom design and groove machining available for composite roll rings
- No internal cooling required; joints in cooling pipes must be leak-free if used
Typical Applications
- Rolling high-precision flat steel and hair spring in cold rolling mills
- Producing foil with consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy
- High-speed wire rolling at over 100m/s with minimal cracking or breakage
- Composite roll rings installed on front stands to reduce roll change frequency
- Rolling general steel and alloy steel wire at high speed and low temperature
- Replacing worn or damaged rollers in existing mill configurations with matched parts
Pressed Sintered and Ground In House
Weighing In of Ingredients
Tungsten carbide powder and cobalt binder weighed to the grade formula.
Milling
Powders wet milled so the binder is evenly distributed through the mix.
Spray Drying
The slurry is spray dried into free-flowing granules that press consistently.
Testing
Granulate checked before it is committed to a press run.
Forming
Blanks pressed on imported presses from the mould for that part.
Sintering
Sintered at around 1450 degrees C in an over-pressure furnace to close porosity.
Machining
Ground and finished to the dimensions on the drawing.
Quality Control
Physical properties, shape and tolerance checked, then inspection photographs sent before delivery.
Tungsten Carbide Rollers FAQ
Can you make rollers to my own drawing?
Yes. OEM and ODM to customer drawings is standard. We provide design, groove machining and rib notching for composite roll rings.
How long is the lead time?
Stock items ship 3-5 days after payment is received. Customised items are quoted with a stated lead time.
Which grade should I use for high-speed wire rolling?
For high-speed wire rolling over 100m/s, use a high-hardness grade such as YG6 or YG8. These grades resist cracking and wear under high stress.
Can I test a sample before ordering in bulk?
Yes. Samples are available for pre-testing. Send the drawing and service conditions and a sample can be quoted.
How are parts checked before shipping?
Physical properties, shape and tolerance are inspected before shipping, and inspection photographs are sent for confirmation before delivery.
Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?
A manufacturer in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, China, producing tungsten carbide parts for over 15 years.
