The Rod
The rod carries the players and takes every impact of the game. Diameter and wall thickness set the stiffness. Telescopic rods stop inside the cabinet and through rods pass out the far side. A bent rod cannot be straightened reliably and should be replaced.
The Bushing
The plastic board bushing is what the rod slides through. It is a consumable. As it wears the rod develops play the action becomes gritty and the players start to twist. Bushings are cheap and replacing them restores most of the original feel. Replace them as a set across the table rather than one at a time.
The Player
Moulded players take the direct impact of the ball. Cracks start at the foot and around the rod pin. In commercial venues players are the highest turnover part on the table. Order them in the colourways that match your cabinet graphics so a repair does not look like a repair.
Caps Handles and Stickers
Rod caps and handles are the customer contact point and they scuff first. Rod stickers carry branding and position markings. Both are inexpensive catalogue lines and refreshing them makes an old table look serviced.
A Sensible Spares Kit
For a venue table a practical first year kit is a full set of bushings a set of rod caps a dozen players in each colour a spare rod and a supply of balls. That kit turns most failures into a ten minute job.
