100 kW Rooftop Array in Thailand
A large public building with a wide, shallow-pitch canopy roof over the main frontage and a courtyard below. The roof is highly visible from the ground, so the array is part of the building's appearance as well as its energy supply.
- Client: A Thai institutional building operator
- Capacity: 100 kW
- Country: Thailand
What Made This Project Difficult
- High ambient temperature reduces module output and stresses connections
- Monsoon rain demands properly sealed junction boxes and cable runs
- A canopy roof with a limited load allowance
- A visible roof, so the array layout had to be neat as well as functional
Client Background
A large public building with a wide, shallow-pitch canopy roof over the main frontage and a courtyard below. The roof is highly visible from the ground, so the array is part of the building's appearance as well as its energy supply.
Project Challenge
Tropical conditions - high ambient temperature, intense sun and monsoon rain - and a roof structure that carries a decorative canopy rather than a heavy industrial deck.
Our Solution
TTM monocrystalline modules with IP68 junction boxes on aluminium alloy racking. The IP68 rating is the relevant specification in a monsoon climate, and aluminium racking kept the added load on the canopy structure low.
Manufacturing Process
Modules were produced and flash-tested on the automated line and binned before packing, so the visible array uses modules of consistent appearance and output.
Supply Chain Coordination
Cartons of 31 modules and racking bundles were shipped together and grouped by roof section.
Quality Control
Junction box seal and frame inspection was the priority check for this climate, alongside standard flash test and power binning.
Final Result
A 100 kW array covering the full canopy roof in continuous rows, aligned to the building's symmetry.
Customer Benefit
Sealed IP68 junction boxes and a light aluminium racking system suited a monsoon climate and a canopy structure that could not take an industrial-weight rack.
