PCM Steel Compared With Common PPGI

Why a printed appliance panel is not ordinary prepainted coil.

The short answer

PCM steel is special coated steel rather than common PPGI. Standard prepainted coil carries a colour. PCM coil can carry a printed pattern, a clear varnish over that pattern and a protection film over the whole face.

What the extra layers buy you

Three colour printing gives a pattern with depth. The clear varnish protects the print and improves the surface appearance. The polyethylene film protects the paintwork from scratching and contamination until the panel is in place.

Where each one belongs

Common prepainted coil is enough for a plain painted roof or a plain cabinet side. PCM steel earns its place where the face is decorative, where the panel is handled a lot before installation, or where a wood, brick, stone or camouflage pattern is part of the specification.

What stays the same

Both are ordered as coil. Base metal thickness 0.2mm to 1.2mm, width 800mm to 1500mm, inner diameter 508mm or 610mm and coil weight up to 8 MT apply to the PCM range supplied by Senko Steel.
