An assembly rarely uses one process. A single subassembly can need a machined housing, a cut gear, a sintered pinion, a stamped rivet and a ceramic insulator, and each one bought separately adds a quotation cycle, a sample cycle and a shipment. This route is about collapsing that.
Where Sourcing Breaks and How It Is Closed
Parts of one assembly sit with different suppliers, so lead times never line up.
The whole part list is reviewed at once and grouped by process, so machined, gear, MIM, stamped, ceramic and stainless items can run on one schedule.
A part is quoted by the only process a supplier owns, not the one that suits it.
Small gears can go to metal injection molding or to machining depending on volume and geometry, and the choice is made per part rather than per supplier.
Five suppliers means five drawing revisions and five sets of inspection records.
Drawings, revisions and inspection requirements are held in one place, under ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 quality systems.
Sample rounds land weeks apart so the assembly cannot be trial built.
Samples are coordinated so the parts of one assembly arrive together and can be fitted rather than inspected in isolation.
Subassembly work gets pushed back to the buyer because no supplier owns all the parts.
Assembling processes are part of the offer, so parts made in house can be supplied fitted rather than loose.
Several small shipments cost more and each one is a separate customs event.
Parts are packed together in PP bag, carton, crate or box to your packing specification and shipped from Hangzhou as one consignment.
