Turning is the right process whenever the part is essentially round. Shafts, pins, bushes, spacers, adaptors and threaded components are cut while rotating, so diameters and concentricity come naturally and the part count per hour is high. Problems here are different from milling: runout between diameters, surface finish where a seal runs, and thread fit with a mating part.
