Choosing Sizes for Hotel Bathroom Lighted Mirrors
How to build a mirror size schedule for a hotel project, from standard widths to custom sizes, and why mixed sizes should be produced in one batch.
Hotel mirror schedules go wrong in a predictable way: the sizes are taken from the room plan, the vanity moves by two inches during construction, and nobody tells the mirror supplier until the mirrors are already at sea.
The Standard Sizes and What They Suit
Our standard sizes are W24" x H36", W36" x H36", W42" x H36", W48" x H36" and W60" x H36". Lit medicine cabinets run W24" x H36", W30" x H36" and W36" x H36".
The Holiday Inn Express property at Mt Juliet used W42" x H36" across 174 rooms, and the DoubleTree by Hilton in Tucson used W40" x H30" across 180 rooms, which is a custom width.
When to Go Custom
Custom sizes are the majority of what we manufacture, so a non-standard width is not an exception. Go custom when the vanity, the tile module or the brand standard sets the width, rather than forcing a standard size onto the wall.
The lead time is the same either way: 30 to 45 working days after drawing approval.
Mixed Sizes in One Property
The Marriott property in Tacoma took 306 units in several sizes. The thing that makes a mixed schedule work is producing it all in one batch, with the frosting width and LED output held constant as the mirror gets wider.
Split the order across two production runs and the difference between a first run and a second run mirror will be visible on adjacent floors.
Confirming the Schedule
Send the size per room type, the quantity per size, the functions you need and the date the mirrors are needed on site. Specification sheets are available by email for the submittal package.
Confirm the schedule against the as-built vanity positions, not the original room plan.
