On garden furniture, the difference between a good margin and a bad one is usually decided in the packing office, not the factory.
Where the money leaks
Hanging chairs, tables and chairs are bulky, awkward and easy to pack badly. A shell, a frame and a cushion set each pack differently, and a supplier left to decide alone will optimise for the factory floor rather than for your container.
Ask for the carton dimensions and the loading plan before production is booked, not after the goods are ready. A ten per cent improvement in cube is usually available and is worth more than any unit-price negotiation.
Assembly is a returns problem
Flat-packed furniture generates returns when the instructions are poor. Review the assembly on the sample yourself, time it, and treat the instruction artwork as part of the specification.
Covers are not an afterthought
A cover sold with the furniture protects the sale twice: it adds margin now and it keeps the product looking good enough that the customer comes back. Cut them to the furniture you actually sell.
