What Makes Good Chocolate Packaging
Good chocolate packaging is mostly invisible engineering: cavities that fit, a lid that never touches the product, and a surface that survives being handled.
The cavity is the product
A praline that can slide will rub, and a rubbed shell loses its gloss. Cavities tooled from your own moulds hold each piece still, which is why we ask for physical samples rather than mould drawings.
Lid clearance protects decoration
Transfer sheets, dusting and hand-piped decoration all mark on contact. Lid height should be set so the lid closes above the tallest piece, not on it.
Choose the tray material for the market
Clear PVC shows the arrangement and sells the selection. Plastic trays cost less. Paper pulp keeps the pack in a single recycling stream. The right answer depends on whether the box is bought on appearance or on ethics.
Matt finishes survive the counter
A boxed selection is picked up repeatedly before it is bought. Gloss lamination records every fingerprint; matt does not.
Plan for heat in the route, not just the shelf
Chocolate blooms above roughly body temperature, and packaging alone cannot prevent it. Structure the shipment and the season around it, and use the box to protect against physical damage rather than heat.
Match the minimum to the season
Seasonal collections rarely justify a year of stock. Two of our chocolate formats run from 500 pcs so a single collection can carry its own packaging.
