How to Package Jewelry in a More Eco-Friendly Way
Jewelry packaging is small, which makes it easy to over-specify. Most of the environmental cost sits in mixed materials rather than in size.
Mixed materials are the real problem
A rigid box with a foam insert, a plastic window and a magnetic closure cannot be separated by a consumer. Reducing the number of different materials usually does more than reducing the amount of any one of them.
Paper inserts instead of foam
Die-cut paper and moulded pulp hold small items securely and keep the pack in a single recycling stream. For jewelry, the weights involved make this a straightforward swap.
Ask about certified stock
We hold FSC certification alongside BSCI, ISO9001 and ISO14001. If your retail customers require chain of custody documentation, confirm it at quotation stage so the order runs on certified material.
Right-size before you redesign
The lowest-effort saving available in jewelry packaging is a smaller box. Material reduction with a structural engineer typically cuts cost and material at the same time.
Design the bag as part of the set
Carrier bags are often specified separately and end up in a different material family from the box. Specify them together, with the same paper and the same finishing.
Do not claim more than the specification supports
Recyclable, recycled and certified mean different things, and retail buyers check. Keep the claim inside what your material specification can prove.
