Electric Boat Motors That Outlast the Boating Season
Five platforms, 80 LB to 180 LB of thrust, all built on a brushless drive with the control board inside the housing and cooled by the water around it. No carbon brushes, no gearbox, no annual service.
Five Platforms Built on One Drive
Thrust, voltage, maximum amp and maximum propeller speed match model for model across the platforms. What changes between them is how the drive mounts and where the boat is steered from.

Three Things That Stop an Electric Boat Drive Working
Each of them has a specific answer in the Caroute range rather than a general claim about quality.
The drive fails mid-season
A brushed motor commutates through a sliding carbon brush, which wears out. There is no brush in a Caroute drive — the company quotes five times the service life of a conventional electric motor and no maintenance requirement.
The battery runs out before the day does
Efficiency values are significantly higher, up to 50%, which converts directly into 30% to 60% more range or power from the same limited battery capacity.
The controls do not fit the boat
Tiller, steering wheel, engine mount, bare drive and PWM signal control are five separate platforms rather than one motor with adapters.
Why the Control Board Sits Inside the Motor
Caroute builds an inner motor IC control board that cools itself with the surrounding water. Optimised IC control programming and brushless technology together mean that, for the same thrust and output power, a Caroute motor draws less input power than a competing electric motor.
- An 80 lb motor runs from one 12 V battery
And a 160 lb motor from 24 V — lower input power for the same thrust means a smaller, lighter bank.
- Up to 50% higher efficiency values
Measured against the brushed electric motors that dominate the trolling motor market.
- Much higher torque at lower battery currents
Which is what moves a loaded hull off a mooring without dragging the bank down.
- Quieter power and cooler operation
Water cooling keeps the electronics temperature down under sustained load.

Pick the Configuration Before You Pick the Motor
Thrust is the same across the platforms. What differs is how the boat is steered and how the throttle is commanded.
