E Platform Brushless Electric Boat Motor With Engine Mount
An engine-mount drive for boats being repowered: the bracket takes the place of an outboard, and the boat keeps whatever controls it already has.

What It Is
The E platform mounts on an engine bracket rather than a clamp-on transom mount, which is what a repower job usually needs — the electric drive goes where the petrol outboard came off, and the throttle and steering already on the boat stay in place.
Thrust runs from 80 LB on the E100 to 180 LB on the E400, with the same voltage and propeller-speed ladder as the rest of the range. Because the E platform carries no tiller of its own, throttle control is chosen separately: a handle throttle, a side mount throttle, or PWM and wireless control.
Why It Is Specified
- Drops into an existing engine bracket
No new transom hardware and no second set of controls.
- Full thrust range
80 LB to 180 LB, matching the tiller and wheel platforms model for model.
- Throttle chosen to suit the boat
Handle throttle, side mount throttle or PWM control are all listed as options for the E platform.
- Takes the external controller box
The 24 V and 48 V external boxes are listed as applicable to the E platform.
Application Scenarios
- Owners converting a petrol-powered boat to electric drive.
- Workboat and tender operators who need to keep existing helm controls.
- Fleets standardising on one control layout across mixed hulls.
What It Fixes
- Repowering usually means replacing the controls too
The E platform leaves throttle and steering choice to the installer and mounts on the existing bracket.
- Petrol outboards need seasonal servicing
The brushless drive has no carbon brushes and no gearbox, and Caroute states no maintenance requirement.
- Control boxes overheat under sustained load
The external controller box raises maximum amp by 25% over the internal control board and mounts away from the drive.

| E400 | 180 LB | Engine mount | Variable | 48 | 56 | 1,800 |
What Is In the Box
- Engine-mount bracket.
- Variable speed, forward and reverse.
- 80 LB to 180 LB thrust across five models.
- 12 V, 24 V and 48 V versions.
- Compatible with the external controller box and with PWM control.
What Can Be Changed
- Handle throttle speed controller or side mount throttle.
- PWM signal control, or PWM with wireless control.
- External controller box, DC24V (max 2.4 kW) or DC48V (max 3.3 kW).
- Stainless steel body with engineering plastics caps.
How It Compares Within the Range
| Option | What is different | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| E platform | Engine-mount bracket, throttle chosen separately | Repowering |
| N platform | Tiller and transom mount | Ready-to-run tenders |
| W platform | Wheel and cable | Console boats |
| S platform | No mount fitted | DIY builds |
How to Specify and Fit It
Check the existing engine bracket pattern before ordering.
Choose the throttle: handle throttle for a seated helm, side mount throttle for a console, PWM for remote control.
Match voltage to model — E100 12/24 V through to E400 48 V.
If the run is long and continuous, specify the external controller box for the extra amp headroom.
