N Platform Brushless Electric Boat Motor With Extendable Tiller
Five tiller-controlled models from 80 LB to 180 LB of thrust, all built on the same brushless drive and all steered from an extendable tiller with a volt LED screen in the head.
What It Is
The N platform is the tiller version of the Caroute drive. The helmsman sits with the motor, turns the whole unit by hand and reads remaining battery voltage off an LED screen built into the tiller head, so there is no separate gauge to wire into the boat.
Every model shares one aluminium transom mount and one 42" stainless steel shaft as standard, with 24", 32" and 52" shafts available when transom height or draft calls for it. Speed is infinitely variable rather than stepped, which matters when you are holding station against a current rather than running a transit.
Why It Is Specified

Higher efficiency means the same bank carries the boat further, or a smaller bank reaches the same range.

Linear speed-up across the range instead of fixed steps, up to 5–8 miles per hour.

Battery state is read where your hand already is, with no extra panel to cut into the console.

What It Fixes
- Brushed trolling motors fail in the middle of a season
There is no sliding carbon brush to wear out, so the usual failure and the annual service that follows it are gone — Caroute quotes five times the service life of a conventional electric motor.
- Battery capacity runs out before the day does
A 30%–60% efficiency gain converts directly into range: the N100 covers 50–75 km at slow speed on one 12V / 200Ah bank.
- Petrol outboards are banned or unwelcome on the water you use
The N platform gives comparable duty to a small petrol outboard with no exhaust and far less noise.

What Is In the Box

How to Specify and Fit It
Pick thrust by displacement: Caroute publishes operating data up to 1.0 t for the N100 and up to 4.0 t for the N400.
Match the battery bank to the model — the published figures assume 12V / 100Ah to 12V / 200Ah blocks wired to the motor's voltage.
Check transom height before choosing shaft length; 42" is standard and three other lengths are available.
Fit the aluminium transom mount, set the depth adjustment collar so the propeller stays submerged under way, then connect the battery cable at the quick connector.
