R Platform Brushless Electric Boat Motor With PWM and Wireless Control
Three models built for signal control rather than a mechanical throttle — PWM in, thrust out, with wireless control as the second option.

What It Is
Where the other platforms take a voltage signal from a throttle the operator holds, the R platform is built around PWM. That makes it the version to specify when the throttle command comes from a controller, a transmitter or another system rather than a hand on a lever.
The range currently covers 80 LB, 100 LB and 120 LB — the R100, R150 and R200 — all on an engine mount. The same PWM and wireless control option can also be applied to the N, S, W and E platforms at those three thrust ratings.
Why It Is Specified
- PWM signal control as the base configuration
Thrust follows a PWM input instead of a hand throttle.
- Wireless control available
PWM with wireless control is listed as the second option on this platform.
- Engine mount
Mounts on a bracket, leaving the transom clear.
- Option travels across the range
The same control option is available on the N, S, W and E platforms at 80 LB, 100 LB and 120 LB.
Application Scenarios
- Builders of remotely operated and unmanned surface craft.
- Survey and research teams that drive propulsion from an onboard controller.
- Bait boat and workboat builders who need signal-level throttle control.
What It Fixes
- Mechanical throttles cannot be driven by a controller
PWM input replaces the voltage-signal throttle.
- Remote installations need the helm off the boat
Wireless control is offered as a factory option rather than a bolt-on.
- Prototype drives rarely match production parts
The R platform shares thrust, voltage, amp and rpm figures with the rest of the Caroute range at the same ratings.
Published Technical Data
Every figure below is published by Caroute. Anything not published is marked TBC rather than estimated.
| Model | Thrust | Mount | Speeds | Volts | Max amp | Max propeller speed (rpm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R100 | 80 LB | Engine mount | Variable | 12/24 | 60/30 | 1,100 |
| R150 | 100 LB | Engine mount | Variable | 24 | 45 | 1,200 |
| R200 | 120 LB | Engine mount | Variable | 24 | 60/30 | 1,350 |
PWM signal control, or PWM and wireless control, is an option and is available for the N, S, W and E platforms.
Currently offered for 80 LB, 100 LB and 120 LB only.
What Is In the Box
- PWM signal control; PWM with wireless control as an option.
- Engine mount.
- 80 LB, 100 LB and 120 LB thrust.
- 12/24 V on the R100, 24 V on the R150 and R200.
- Maximum propeller speed 1,100 to 1,350 rpm.
What Can Be Changed
- PWM signal control only, or PWM with wireless control.
- Same control option applied to an N, S, W or E platform drive.
- External controller box in 24 V or 48 V.
- Two-blade or three-blade propeller.
How It Compares Within the Range
| Option | What is different | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| R platform | PWM and wireless control, engine mount | Remote and controller-driven craft |
| E platform | Engine mount, separate throttle | Repowering with a hand throttle |
| N platform | Tiller | Hand steering at the transom |
| W platform | Wheel and cable | Console steering |
How to Specify and Fit It
Confirm the PWM range your controller outputs when you enquire.
Pick thrust from the three available ratings — 80 LB, 100 LB or 120 LB.
Wire to 12/24 V for the R100 or 24 V for the R150 and R200.
If you need a higher thrust rating with PWM, specify an N, S, W or E platform drive with the PWM option instead.
