External Controller Box for Caroute Brushless Motors
Moves the controller out of the motor housing and raises maximum amp by 25% over the internal board — two voltage versions, 24 V and 48 V.

What It Is
The external controller box does the same job as the control board built into a Caroute drive, using the same voltage-signal control method, but it sits outside the motor. That matters in two situations: when there is no room in the housing for the control you want, and when the boat draws more current than the internal board is rated for.
Compared with the Caroute internal controller, maximum amp is 25% higher. Two versions exist and they are not interchangeable: DC24V rated at a maximum 2.4 kW, and DC48V rated at a maximum 3.3 kW. A dimensional drawing is published for installers.
Why It Is Specified
- 25% more maximum amp
Measured against the Caroute internal controller.
- Same control method
Standard control is voltage signal, the same as the internal controller PCB, so throttles carry over.
- Optional PWM on both versions
PWM control can be specified for the 24 V and the 48 V box.
- Optional kill switch
A kill switch function is available as an option.
Application Scenarios
- Installers fitting a Caroute drive into a console boat with space for a mounted box.
- Operators running long, continuous duty where amp headroom matters.
- Builders integrating a kill switch or PWM control into their own console.
What It Fixes
- The internal board limits current
The external box raises maximum amp by 25%.
- A kill switch has nowhere to terminate
The box offers a kill switch as an optional function.
- Control electronics are hard to reach inside the drive
Mounting the controller outside makes it accessible without pulling the motor.

How It Compares Within the Range
| Option | What is different | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| External controller box | Mounted outside the drive, 25% more maximum amp | High-current and console installations |
| Internal controller PCB | Built into the motor housing, water cooled | Standard installations |
How to Specify and Fit It
Pick the voltage version to match the battery bank — 24 V and 48 V boxes are different products.
Use the published dimension drawing to lay out the mounting before wiring.
Keep the standard voltage-signal throttle, or specify PWM at order.
Confirm the platform: the box is listed for the W, S and E platforms.
