Medical device and mobility equipment manufacturers. Medical devices are one of the markets CarbonWizer serves alongside aerospace, defence, science, research, energy, marine, sporting and consumer goods.

Project Challenge

Medical equipment is lifted and repositioned by staff many times a shift, and parts near an imaging path cannot be metal. Both constraints point at composite, but the surfaces still have to survive aggressive cleaning.

Customer Pain Points

• Equipment weight causing handling strain during repeated use
• Metal supports obstructing the imaging path
• Surfaces that degrade under repeated cleaning

Our Solution

Structural and accessory parts are produced in carbon fiber composite, which brings the weight down at high stiffness, with the moulding route chosen so that surfaces are smooth and sealed rather than open weave.

Manufacturing Process

Compression moulding and autoclave cure for structural components, with CNC machining for flat panels and fittings cut from stock plate.

Supply Chain Coordination

Composite parts are produced alongside their metal brackets and fittings, so assemblies arrive matched.

Quality Control

Parts are measured against the drawing, and surfaces are inspected before packing. Certification status for medical applications is TBC and confirmed in writing before order.

Final Result

Medical accessories - wheelchair aprons and pedals, stretchers, medical machine arches and X-ray tablets - form an established part of the CarbonWizer catalogue.
