Geocell Design And Installation On Soft Subgrade
What Confinement Does
Filling cells with local soil, gravel or concrete creates lateral restraint, which spreads load and reduces rutting over weak foundations.
PP Or PE
Cell sheet tensile yield strength is at least 23.0 MPa in PP and at least 20.0 MPa in PE. Weld tensile strength is at least 100 N/cm in both.
Joint Strength Matters More Than Sheet Strength
At the junction between cell groups the sheet reaches at least 120 N/cm, and at the sheet edge at the joint at least 200 N/cm. These joints are where panels are pulled during stretching.
Installation Sequence
Level the subgrade, stretch the collapsed panels into the net, connect adjacent panels, then fill and compact in layers.
Proving It Worked
Settlement magnet rings on 53 mm or 70 mm casing record layer settlement, and earth pressure cells confirm the stress reaching the subgrade.
