Glass Fog Profile Suspension Insulators LXHP-210 / U210BP

210 kN Fog Profile Glass Disc for Long Tension Strings

LXHP-210 / U210BP is the highest-strength toughened glass disc in the Zhaotong range, rated at a 210 kN mechanical failing load with a 550 mm creepage distance on a 320 mm shed. It is specified where a single string has to carry heavy conductor bundles and still hold its withstand margin in salt or industrial fallout. Each unit weighs about 10.0 kg, so string weight and tower loading can be calculated directly from the unit count.

Key Benefits

  • 210 kN failing load with a 105 kN routine tension proof gives a 2:1 margin on the proof value
  • 550 mm creepage on a 320 mm disc raises specific creepage without adding string length
  • Toughened glass shatters visibly when punctured so a failed unit is found on a line patrol
  • 140 kV dry lightning impulse and 90 kV dry power-frequency withstand for high-voltage strings

Technical Features

  • Fog profile with deep under-ribs to hold creepage distance when the shed is wetted
  • 20 mm ball and socket coupling
  • 130 kV puncture withstand voltage
  • Maximum RIV of 50 uV at 1000 kHz with 10 kV RMS test voltage to ground

Application Scenarios

  • Heavy bundled-conductor tension strings on 220 kV and above
  • Coastal spans where salt deposit forces a higher specific creepage
  • River and valley crossings where string replacement access is difficult

Who It Is For

  • Transmission line EPC contractors sizing tension strings
  • Utility procurement teams buying against an IEC or GB disc specification
  • Hardware assemblers who build complete insulator strings

Problems It Solves

  • Strings that need more strength without moving to a larger coupling size
  • Pollution flashover on lines that were built with standard-profile discs
  • Hidden punctured units that are not detectable during a visual patrol
Comparison

How This Design Differs From the Alternatives

Compared With LXHP-160 / U160BP fog disc

Same 550 mm creepage class but 210 kN instead of 160 kN, for bundles that exceed the 160 kN string rating.

Compared With Porcelain ANSI 52-3 disc

Glass self-destructs on puncture and shows the fault, where a punctured porcelain cap and pin can stay in the string undetected.

Use Guide

Specifying and Installing This Unit

  • Check the tower tension load against the 105 kN tension proof value, not the 210 kN failing load
  • Count units from the system voltage and the required specific creepage in mm per kV
  • Handle by the cap, never by the glass shed edge, when building the string
  • Inspect the string after the first storm season and replace any unit whose shell has shattered
Questions Buyers Ask

Questions About This Product

What does the 210 kN rating actually mean?

210 kN is the mechanical failing load, the point at which the unit is tested to destruction. The routine proof load applied to every unit is 105 kN. Size your string against the proof value and the line design load, not against the failing load.

Why choose a fog profile over a standard profile?

The fog profile carries 550 mm of creepage on a 320 mm disc, against 320 mm on a comparable standard-profile 255 mm disc. In salt, cement or industrial fallout the longer leakage path is what holds off pollution flashover.

How do we find a failed glass unit in service?

A punctured toughened glass shell shatters and leaves the cap, pin and stub in place. The string keeps its mechanical integrity and the failed unit is visible from the ground, so no puncture testing equipment is needed.

Is the 20 mm coupling compatible with our existing hardware?

The 20 mm ball and socket coupling follows the standard designation used on IEC and GB disc insulators of this class. Send us the socket drawing or the hardware model you use and we will confirm the fit before you order.

What is the shipping weight per unit?

Net weight is approximately 10.0 kg per unit. Packing configuration and gross weight per pallet are confirmed on the order acknowledgement.
